Fabric and Construction:- The Toxic is made from 3/4ozs. Rip-Stop Nylon
fabric, Silicon coated both sides, ensuring a high degree of air-proofing. Dacron
reinforced Trailing Edge and Leading Edge Vent openings make for added durability
and resist stretch in these areas. The Bridle is formed from Kevlar/Dyneema (Spectra)
and has sewn loops to reduce snagging. Robust bridle attachment tabs complete
the high level of attention to detail on this kite.
Flying Lines:- Each kite comes complete, packed in a sturdy back-pack bag, with pre-sleeved Dyneema (Spectra) fiber flying lines suitable for its' size and Quad Line Control Handles. As with all sports equipment exposed to natural elements such as wind, sea water, dust, sand and sunlight, life expectancy varies. With heavy use in these conditions, Toxic kites can be expected to remain operationally effective for a minimum of 2 years. Of course, with moderate use and care, this time period can be lengthened considerably. To optimize performance, it is suggested that equipment be updated and/or replaced routinely. |
Much attention to detail has been given to the Toxic. Both Trailing Edge and Leading
Edge Vent openings are reinforced with Dacron. Bridling is Kevlar/Dyneema with sewn loops
which attach to robust tabs on the kite. Inner Riser Profiles are reinforced with Mylar to
reduce stretch. Trailing Edge "Dirt Outs" have also been incorporated to make removing sand
and other debris from inside the kite easier.Though the smaller sizes are intended for strong winds and the larger sizes for light wind conditions, the operating range of each CrossFire will largely depend on the flyers skill level with this type of kite. The performance level of the Toxic is suited to intermediate and experienced pilots and those with flight experience of less sophisticated quad line ram-air kites. We would suggest entry level traction fliers would benefit from getting comfortable with a medium aspect ratio kite such as the Beamer or Rage before progressing to the Toxic.
Getting started:- Whether flying for fun or Traction Kiting, the Toxic is sure to
perform well. The wide range of sizes from 2.0 to 8.0 are good for intermedate and
experienced pilots alike. No matter what type of kite you use for Kite Traction, there are a number of things to remember when selecting the best size to start with. The Toxic to use will depend on the Surface; (Skis on snow or ice, Kite Buggy on soft or hard sand, grass or hard ground, or Kite Board on water), the Wind Speed; flyer Skill and Experience and flyer Weight. Whether the flyer is a novice or has a lot of Traction Kiting experience, the best choice is the smallest kite that will produce enough power to move. It is essential not to be overpowered, not just because it's obviously safer, but upwind travel will be easier and less power is easier to manage. A small to mid-size kite is ideal to get familiar with control on solid ground in modest steady wind. |
|
Once you are confident with kite control, then progress to Kite Buggy, Snow Skis, SnowBoard, or Kite LandBoard. ![]() These kites produce considerable pull and are not suitable for inexperienced flyers under age 16. Always learn to control the kites before attempting kite traction activities. Sensible saftey precautions should be followed when flying these kites and protective clothing, especially sturdy shoes and a helmet should always be worn when using them for traction. Read instructions and safety warnings in with every kite. |
