Fabric:- Rage kites are made with 3/4ozs. Chikara Rip-Stop Nylon fabric and have a Spectra ( Dyneema ) fiber Bridle. Flying Lines:- These kites are designed for kite traction and so the most common quad-line set to fly with is a 300lbs. top lines over 200lbs. bottom lines combination. An alternative would be a 200lbs. top lines over 150lbs. bottom lines for very light wind. In general, flying lines should be 75 feet long, but can be up to 120 feet long. Flying lines are included in the Rage package which are 440lbs over 220lbs and 82 feet for all sizes except the 1.8, which are 66 feet long As with all sports equipment exposed to natural elements such as wind, sea water, dust, sand and sunlight, life expectancy varies. With heavy use in these conditions, these kites can be expected to remain operationally effective for a minimum of 2 years. Of course, with moderate use and care, this time period can be lengthened considerably. To optimize performance, it is suggested that equipment be updated and/or replaced routinely. |
Each kite comes in
a sturdy back-pack bag with instructions, flying lines and either Control Handles or Control
Bar. Both options include a safety leash re-ride system.Smaller sizes are intended for strong winds and the larger sizes for light wind conditions. The operating wind range of each Rage will largely depend on the flyers skill level with this type of kite.
Rage flying:- Rage kites are powerful traction kites suitable for
beginner through experienced ram-air quad-line flyers. No matter what type of kite you use for Kite Traction, there are a number of things to remember when selecting the best size to start with. The kite to use will depend on the Surface; (Skis on snow or ice, Kite Buggy on soft or hard sand, grass or hard ground), the Wind Speed; flyer Skill and Experience and flyer Weight. Whether the flyer is a novice or has a lot of Traction Kiting experience, the best choice is the smallest kite that will produce enough power to move. It is essential not to be overpowered, not just because it's obviously safer, but upwind travel will be easier and less power is easier to manage. Once you are confident that you can control the kite, then progress to Kite Buggy or Skis. We found the Rage to be more responsive than the Bullet 05 during our test flights. It retains the flight speed of the Bullet, yet has a more solid "feel" ideal for traction kite sports. The aerofoil is well maintained at the Leading Edge as the vent is mesh covered like the Bullet. Protoype testing determined that a meshed vent gave better performance over a fully open vent. Design elements like clipped wing tips and increased hoop geometry set the Rage apart from the Bullet. A kite to learn with, but also one you won't outgrow. |
