Fabric:- Ballistic kites are made with 3/4ozs. Rip-Stop Nylon fabric with Spectra Bridles. Flying Lines:- Each kite comes complete with Control Bar and Spectra fiber 300lbs flying lines pre-attached to the kite and bar. As with all sports equipment exposed to natural elements such as wind, sea water, dust, sand and sunlight, life expectancy varies. With heavy use in these conditions, Ballistic kites can be expected to remain operationally effective for a minimum of 2 years. Of course, with moderate use and care, this time period can be lengthened considerably. To optimize performance, it is suggested that equipment be updated and/or replaced routinely. |
Ballistic kites come in a sturdy shoulder-sling carry bag with Instructions, Control Gear and Flying Line, pre-attached. Design elements of the Ballistic make for an easy to fly traction kite with stable performance. The medium aspect ratio and mid-range aerofoil of this kite generate good "pull" without unexpected surprises. The 3.6 size, used with a Conrol Bar is a great combination for land training in preparation for KiteBoarding as featured in the DVD "Way To Fly". A very informative introduction to KiteBoarding with many land training exercises. Used with Control Handles, the Ballistic is also a respectable land traction kite. Way To Fly DVD 60 minutes of great instructional video with PASA certified instructor Chris Moore. Detailed explantion of Land Training in preparation for KiteBoarding, from ground school to water launches. The Ballistic 3.6, with Control Bar option, is featured in the "Way To Fly"
DVD and is used to illustrate aspects of land training essential in order to progess to
KiteBoarding lessons on water. The video explains in detail the Wind Window, creating power, steering control, set up, launching and landing and much more.
Pre-inflated kites are also shown and flying techniques explained. No matter what type of
kite you use for Kite Traction, it is essential not to be overpowered. Not just because it's
obviously safer, but upwind travel will be easier and less power is easier to manage. This
mid-size Ballistic is ideal to get familiar with control on solid ground in modest steady
wind. Once you are confident that you can control the kite, you'll then be able to progress
to KiteBoarding instruction and the water.
